A Flood Song

Alt Text

Psalm 93

Chapter Summary

A Flood Song

Psalm 18 is known as the “thunderstorm psalm,” but others also mention floods and storms. They always affirm that God is greater. Perhaps it seemed to this writer that the flood would carry away all they knew. But they declare that God is stable, and He has made the earth firm, as well. “It will not be moved.”

Day 219

God, I know You are above all weather, both earthly storms and storms of trouble or temptation. I am established with You.

Psalm 93

KJV

93 The Lord reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.

Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.

The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves.

The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.

Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O Lord, for ever.
